A Travel guide to Shogran, Siri Payee
If you want to do a short trip, you can go to Shogran. You have two ways to get there.
One way is from Islamabad, go through Patriata and Murree, then go to Balakot. Stay one night in Balakot, relax there, then next day go to Shogran.
The other way is to go straight from Islamabad to Shogran.
From Islamabad to Patriata, it takes about 1.5 hours. You can stop there, take the chairlift, eat something. Chairlift costs about 1000 rupees per person. There are also some small rides for kids and shops where you can buy shawls.
After Patriata, it takes around 3 and a half hours to reach Balakot. You can spend the night there.
You cannot go directly to Shogran from Balakot by car. You first drive to Kiwai, which is about 1 hour from Balakot. Park your car there and take a jeep to Shogran. Jeep ride takes about 30 minutes.
There are many hotels in Shogran to stay.
If you explore Shogran on the first day, next day you can go to Siri and Paye. You need a jeep for that too. These are two different places, very beautiful. You can also go on horse if you want.
Shogran is very peaceful. Not much to do, but good for relaxing and getting away from city noise.
You can stay as many days as you want. When you want to go back, take the motorway from Kiwai. It takes about 4 hours to reach Islamabad.
Basically, Shogran is for people who want peace and quiet.
